A catalytic converter is an emissions-control device in a vehicle’s exhaust system that transforms toxic pollutants into less harmful gases through chemical reaction.

Features 

• Substrate (Core): A ceramic or metallic monolith shaped like a honeycomb to maximize the surface area for gases to contact the catalyst.
• Washcoat: A carrier layer, usually made of aluminum oxide (alumina), silica, or titanium dioxide, that creates a rough, irregular surface to further increase active surface area.
• Catalyst: A thin coating of precious metals—primarily platinum, palladium, and rhodium—that triggers the chemical reaction
