– Frequency: Clean every 6 months, but not more than once a month; adjust based on water quality.
– Responsibility: Operators must determine cleaning frequency for their environment.
– Sanitization: Cleaning does not eliminate microbial contaminants; always sanitize afterward.
– Chemical Use: Use a “nickel-safe” cleaner like NuCalgon Nickel-Safe Ice Machine Cleaner (53-82% water, 15-40% phosphoric acid, 3-7% citric acid) or KAY® Delimer for CIM models revision 4 and higher (5-10% citric acid).
– Professional Cleaning: Cleaning should be done by a trained technician per Installation and Service Manuals.
